Mommy's Little Helper...

Bella is so grown up... This weekend had me in tears - I am so grateful for her little personality!
I have been feeling super nauseated and sick this pregnancy, but rarely throw up. Unfortunately on Sunday - it actually came up! UGH! I was in bed trying to muster the energy to get up for my kids when I overheard Bella in the kitchen. She was completely taking care of Coley solo. She made him toast for breakfast and even managed to mix up some chocolate milk for the two of them. They were watching a movie on my laptop when I finally made it out to see them.
I laid on the floor or the couch most of the day with Bella catering to my every need. Ice water, toast for mommy, tissues and pillows and blankets. She brought me a special snack - a banana and Special K Bar on a paper plate. She even brushed my hair - which I am sure was looking super scary in order to prompt such a favor. :) She kept asking me "Can I get anything else for you Mom? Can I do something for you?" And when I would thank her - her reply was "No Problem!" She was even my amazing helper when Cole thought it would be fun to shove 20 million pounds of TP down the toilet, flush it and flood the bathroom. SO fun!
Needless to say, I am so grateful for her and her sweet willingness to be my special helper. She couldn't be more excited for the baby - and I couldn't be more excited to have her help! I love her so much and am so grateful she is mine...

Steph, that is the sweetest story. I don't get to see you much but SERIOUSLY, I'm home M,T,W with no kids so if you ever need a little break call me! I'd be happy to take them to the park or out for a walk. It's not fun being sick all the time.

Steph, You are so blessed to have such a beautiful first child! She will just be your little helper for life! She is such a sweetheart and I am sure she is only returning the loving example of compassion that you give to all those who you love! You've taught her so well!

Now it is my turn to help you out. I will come get your little angels so you can have a break! I am so sorry that you have been feeling crummy! It is especially hard when you have kids you want to care for and love! Luckily little Bella knows her stuff, you'll totally be fine with her little mothering skills!

Oh, of course she was so helpful. Just taking after her mom and dad while the other little rascal was flooding the house! Hey, when is Bella coming over to my house so I can just pretend to be sick and ask her to make me cookies? She is the best little mom - you're going to have so much help you guys could probably go catch a movie and just put Bella in charge - you'll come home and the house will be swept, vacuumed, clean dishes, candles will be burning and the baby and Coley will be sleeping - all while Bella's dressed up in a Cinderella gown! I can picture it now...

Oh she's dang cute! What a darling picture of her too.
I know what you mean about being the little mother. When Cameron was out of town, I didn't know what to do with my boys. She even called me SEVERAL times to make sure the boys were keeping their undies dry! (There's the trick to potty training - get Bella on board!)
I hope you get feeling better. Call me and I'll come get your kids and have them for a playdate!

Sorry you are feeling so miserable. Pregnancy pains are something I am going to take up with God in the next life. If I am doing something good and important, why does it have to feel so bad?
Also, WOW! When you are feeling better can I send Norah over for lessons? She needs to learn quickly that I could use a little helper.

Hey Steph,
It's Erin Davis Nielsen. I didn't know you were pregnant. Congrats! Sounds like you are a great mom. I'm sure Bella learned how to take care of people from you. I'm pregnant with my second and your days sound like mine. Good thing Logan loves to watch "Caillou". Check out my blog if you want to: www.daneanderin.blogspot.com
I hope you get feeling better!
Love,
Erin
